DALIAN has made its "City of Romance" title official by successfully registering it with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce Trademark Office. Forty-three other related product titles were also related, the Dalian government announced. The Dalian Tourism Bureau began using the tagline in the early 1990s, and registration procedures began three years ago. Dalian tourism bureau chief, Mr He Guang, believes that the title will improve the city's marketing efforts. In China, many cities adopt titles or taglines such as "garden city" (Kunming), "Venice of the East" (both Suzhou and Shaoxing) in their marketing campaigns both domestic and international, but Dalian is the first city to make it official.(source:ttg)
